Hackneyed theme

Though this is a love story revolving around the hero and heroine (Raja-Kamna), the focus is on Naga Babu, father of the heroine who has an aversion towards youngsters falling in love and getting married. There is a strong reason to underlying his aversion.

Family history

It’s all about Naga Babu’s sister getting married to a boy of her choice, leaving her brother and father to their fate. The father dies and Naga Babu grows up with a false belief that marriages without parental approval don’t work. He is portrayed as a man commanding respect and fear in the family.

Both his daughters who are in love are scared to broach the subject with him.

So, Raja the hero, strikes upon a beautiful lie (the title) to make things easy without harming or hurting anyone. Trouble arises and all hell breaks lose when Naresh, his close friend, visits his family and another family member, Posani Krishna Murali spills the beans.

Reconciliation

Naga Babu is crestfallen when his youngest daughter elopes with Raja’s brother. How he reconciles to the situation and admits his mistake is shown in the last half-an-hour of the film. This film is a tried and a tested formula with average performances making it difficult to sit through the entire film.

Raja’s character is stymied by a screenplay that gives him only two emotions to play – either sullen or confused. There is no chemistry between Raja and Kamna and Ali’s predicament as to why he is constantly punched by the villains is mildly entertaining. Posani is always yelling and at times, he is incomprehensible. Kamna looks charming and is probably the only saving grace in this bland film.
