Scientific temper to the fore

Kakinada: A three-day district science fair began at Sri Prakash Synergy School, Peddapuram, on Friday. Nearly 550 exhibits were displayed in 23 stalls. A lively cultural show followed the inaugural function, with Jaggampeta MLA T.V. Narasimham participating as chief guest.

Regional Joint Director of School Education N. Janardhan Reddy, Peddapuram RDO K. Nataraj, deputy education officer K.V. Ramana and DSP L. Subbarayudu were guests of honour.

Models

Mr. Narasimham said such events help bring out the inherent talents of children and enable them to develop scientific spirit. This would pave the way for them to become good scientists. Some 3,000 students from 300 upper primary schools and 840 high schools are taking part in the fair, which has exhibits covering themes like agriculture and food security, conservation of natural resources, combating climate change, harnessing energy, mathematical modelling and disaster management. School director Vijay Prakash said that it was essential to upgrade the skills of students so that they could make valuable contributions to the rapidly evolving field of science and technology. Peddapuram Municipal Commissioner D. Gopalakrishna, deputy education officers – D. Nageswara Rao and K. Srirama Murthy – Sri Prakash Educational Society vice-chairman K. Kesava Rao and joint secretary Sudhakar Reddy and proctor Suchita Singh were among those who took part.
