THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The formal inauguration of Kerala Tourism’s 45-day Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) that commenced on December 1 will take place at Thekkinkad maidan in Thrissur on Saturday. Speaker K. Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the second edition of the GKSF at 6 p.m. at a function to be attended by Minister for Tourism and Home Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Minister for Finance T. M. Thomas Issac and Minister for Revenue K. P. Rajendran. Noted litterateur Sukumar Azhikode will be the chief guest. Russian acrobatics dance and a mega musical night to be presented by reputed singers had been organised in the cultural capital of the state to mark the inauguration of the GKSF. The signature song of the festival will also be presented at the function to be held at the specially erected podium in the maidan. The entry to the venue had been restricted by the organisers through passes. The organisers had made arrangements for 50,000 people to view the inauguration and cultural events. Director of the GKSF K. N. Satheesh has asked the shop owners participating in the festival to order the festival coupons two days in advance to avoid any delay in sending them. The orders for festival coupons can be placed through telephone number 0484-6461010.
