KOCHI: The Adivasi Gothra Mahasabha (AGM) will go in appeal against a recent High Court judgment on attacks against tribal groups at Muthanga in 2003. The organisation will also hold a national public hearing on February 19 and 20 next year on human rights violations against tribal groups as part of observing Muthanga Day. It will announce a protest programme on the occasion. Addressing a press meet here on Friday, AGM president C.K. Janu said their demand included an inquiry in the Muthanga case by another agency as the investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation was partial. There were seven criminal cases in connection with the eviction of tribals from Muthanga. But no inquiry had been done in the case related to the death of Jogi, an Adivasi who was shot dead in police firing. The unnatural death was not subjected to investigation, even though the State government had said that all seven cases would be probed by the CBI, Ms. Janu said. M. Geetanandan, State coordinator, Bhuparishkarana Samithi, said that since an investigation was taken up into the death of a policeman, Surendran, during the firing, Jogi’s death also demanded the same treatment. Ten tribals who were accused in the firing case had died since then, he said .
