MDS toll-free helpline launched

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: A round the clock toll-free helpline 10923, ‘Swadhar,’ of the Mahila Dakshata Samiti (MDS), Karnataka branch, was launched here on Monday by C.N. Ashwathanarayana, MLA.

Dr. Ashwatanarayana said that counselling had a vital role to play in solving family disputes, including those arising between husband and wife. Many problems could be solved if the people facing problems in relationships consulted counsellors before moving court.

In most of the cases, the problems arose because of people’s attitudes. He said that behavioural aspects of human life were important in maintaining a cordial relationship.

Some people were in the habit of finding fault with others, which might result in strained relationship, he said and added that there were not many counselling centres in Bangalore.

President of the MSS Saranya S. Hegde said the counselling centre would help those who are in distress owing to disputes within the family and harassment by members of the family, including the spouse.

The centre aimed at bringing the broken hearts together through counselling. It would provide food and shelter to the women in distress till their problems were resolved, she said.
