TIRUCHI: About 68,000 families, whose houses were waterlogged during last week’s rain in Tiruchi district, would get the flood relief of Rs.1,000 each as announced by the State government. The district administration has sought the release of about Rs.7 crore for the disbursement of relief. Over 50,000 of affected families were from Tiruchi city, according to official sources. The State government has instructed that the relief be disbursed through special centres to be set up for the purpose. Only 500 families are to be disbursed the relief through a centre in a day, so that there was no overcrowding at the centres.
