Taking a walk on the wild side

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: While Bangalore is home to birds and animals such as slender loris, cobras, jungle cats, owls, monitor lizards, egrets and pangolins, it is also a place where there is a lack of awareness about these species and indifference towards wildlife. People For Animals (PFA) decided to “Walk on the wild side” on Saturday by bringing together a panel of wildlife.

Prem Koshy, wildlife enthusiast, spoke on the urban scenario with regard to wildlife and wildlife in the face of rapid urbanisation. Sudendra Varma, elephant specialist from the Indian Institute of Science; Pramod, ornithologist; and Alapana Bhartia, PFA trustee, were part of the group that interacted with the audience about their experience of wildlife vis-À-vis the city.

The occasion also marked the Adopt an Animal scheme, which allows a person to sponsor the treatment and rehabilitation of any of the animals, birds and reptiles at the shelter.
