CUTTACK: CPI leader Abhay Sahoo who was arrested in October this year while spearheading anti-Posco movement in the State, alleges that the jail authorities are ill-treating him while he is now undergoing treatment for multiple diseases at SCB hospital here. Suffering from diabetes, blood pressure and rheumatism, Sahoo was shifted to the hospital on Wednesday from Choudwar jail and till Friday he was chained and handcuffed while undergoing treatment in the male ward of the Medicine Department. He was not allotted a bed till Saturday afternoon and rested in the floor for almost three days. Not only that, even when he was taken out of the ward for some clinical tests, the chain and handcuffs were on. “It was only when some local TV channels aired my plight perhaps then the authorities thought of freeing me from the chain and handcuffs”, Sahoo told The Hindu on Saturday.
