Proposals for 16 health sub-centres

Staff Reporter

They will be in addition to new 104 services

Training is being imparted to ANMs

Review meeting held on health services

Kakinada: The Medical and Health Department has sent proposals for construction of 16 primary health sub-centres (seven in plain areas and the remaining in Agency areas) of the district to improve healthcare services.

These will be in addition to 104 ambulance services scheduled to be launched by Chief Minister Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy on December 18, according to Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi. He said at a review meeting on health care services that training was being imparted to auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs) to provide medical services through 104 ambulances. Steps were taken to fill the posts of ANMs to augment the health care services.

December 21 was the National Pulse Polio Immunization Day when the officials have to vaccinate the maximum number of children in order to protect them from polio. A total of 5,72,000 children aged between 0 and 5 have been targeted to be immunized on that day through 3,351 stations.

A mop-up round of immunization would be organized on December 22 and 23 to ensure that no vulnerable child is left unprotected. There would be an exclusive round of immunization in Rajahmundry on December 24. Nearly 12,000 volunteers of Aasha, Anganwadi workers and staff of Indira Kranti Padam were being deputed to conduct the immunization drive.

District medical and health officer D Vijay Kumar, polio surveillance officer Suryanarayana, district TB control officer Prasanna Kumar, Arogyasri district coordinator Krishna Kumar and district immunization officer B Murali Krishna were among those who participated in the review.
