BANGALORE: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Saturday said the Government would soon issue a circular directing all schools, colleges and government offices to install portraits of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar (1891-1956), the father of the Constitution. He was speaking to presspersons after paying floral tributes to Dr. Ambedkar on his 52nd death anniversary at Vidhana Soudha. Mr. Yeddyurappa recalled the contributions of Dr. Ambedkar to the nation and said he was born into a poor Dalit family on April 14, 1891 and spent his whole life fighting against social discrimination and caste system. Stating that Dr. Ambedkar’s principles were still relevant in the caste-based Indian society, Mr. Yeddyurappa called upon the people to emulate the principles of the leader who provided constitutional guarantees and protections for civil liberties of individual citizens. Minister for Industries Murugesh R. Nirani, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Shobha Karandlaje, Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao attended the programme.
