Circular on land registration issued

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The onus of examining the legal validity of the documents presented for land transactions is not vested in the registering officer, the Inspector-General for Registration has informed.

An official release issued here on Saturday said that a circular has been issued to make registration of land transactions more transparent. Direction has been given to include details of the identity proof of the buyer and seller in the documents. It has been proposed to standardise the language used in documents so that those involved would get a clear idea about the property. This was also expected to end border disputes and other malpractices in land transfer, the release said.
