VISAKHAPATNAM: Delhi-based International Institute of Professional Education and Research (IIPER) at Rama Talkies Road will be opening its sixth institute in the country and second in the State after Hyderabad, here on Monday. In the first phase the institute will be offering three modules in retail management. Disclosing the details at a press meet here on Sunday, the Director of IIPER Subrata Dutta said that the modules would include a three-month certificate course in retail programme, a three-month programme in advanced diploma in retail management and a 14-month post graduate programme in retail management. While the first programme is open for plus-two students, the second and the third programmes are open for graduates and MBAs from all streams. The PG programme would comprise of 700-teaching hours and two months of hands-on training in the retail sector. The second programme has been exclusively designed for working professionals, said the director. He informed that despite the global recession the retail market is on the boom and major players are venturing into this segment. He noted that by 2010, the retail market would need about 1.20 lakh qualified professionals. In the second phase, the institute has plans to start specialised industry oriented management courses like supply chain management, inventory management, human resources management and marketing and sales. This apart, it plans to start vocational courses for the underprivileged.
