Making a point: Justice G. Bhavani Prasad of the Andhra Pradesh High Court speaking at the training programme on law related to mediation in Adilabad on Sunday.

ADILABAD: Justice G. Bhavani Prasad of the Andhra Pradesh High Court and Portfolio Judge of Adilabad district on Sunday opined that dispute resolution should go beyond the technical nuances of mediation and given legal provisions. He said it was the human side in the mediation and conciliation efforts that can achieve the seemingly difficult task of cementing differences between disputing people. Justice Bhavani Prasad was the chief guest at the valedictory of the two-day training programme on the law related to medication, conciliation and arbitration organised jointly by the Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority and the International Centre for Alternative Disputes Resolution, Hyderabad region centre. Making a point about humanistic values in society, the High Court Judge quoted examples of people who demonstrated these values. He said the country survived and maintained its greatness because of the likes of Tuljabai of Bhainsa town who saved five lives during the October communal strife and Sandeep Unnikrishnan, officer of the National Security Guards who went down fighting terrorists in Mumbai recently. Rapprochement and conciliation was more needed in places like Adilabad where exploitation of the poor had allowed extremism to flourish, the Judge observed. He made an impassioned plea to the concerned people to devote some time to resolve disputes through conciliation and mediation. Justice Bhavani Prasad gave away certificates to participants of the training programme including officers of Judicial, Medical, Women and Child Development department and retired personnel. Adilabad Principal District Judge N. Ravi Shankar and othersparticipated.
