SBI branch completes 140 years of service
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Main Branch of the State Bank of India, Koti, which completes 140 years of service on December 8, has come a long way from advising the European officers and the Crown’s representatives based in the city. Established as a branch of Bank of Bengal on Dec. 8, 1868, it has undergone transition from an office of a Presidency Bank to that of the Imperial Bank of India in 1921 and later as SBI from 1955 onwards. The branch, headed by K. S. Venkateswara Rao, Assistant General Manager, has more than 30,000 accounts. –Special Correspondent
