TIRUPATI:.The Technical Committee on Animal Husbandry is to meet for two days in SV Agricultural College campus from tomorrow. The committee was constituted to advise on matters related to Animal Husbandry and Fisheries. Commissioners, Directors and Secretaries of the Departments of AH&F of all the States and Union Territories of India were invited to this meet. The Committee is responsible for maintaining data on Animal Husbandry related issues. The Committee is going to deliberate on matters such as the volume of production of wool, milk, eggs and meet for the next fiscal year. It would also review the 18th quinquennial livestock census and implementation of integrated sample survey schemes. Livestock insurance, infrastructure, artificial insemination, staffing of personnel for data collection are some of the major issues to be discussed in the meet, said the organisers. Livestock InsuranceLivestock insurance is being implemented in 100 districts across the country, of which of which 8 districts are from the State, covering 65,000 cattle-heads. Andhra Pradesh is the largest producer of eggs and stands in second position in meet production next only to West Bengal. The size of hybrid cattle population Chittoor district is second in the entire country, the first being Ahmednagar district in Maharastra. V.K. Bhatia, Director, IASRI, S.K. Bhandopadhyay, Commissioner, Animal Husbandry, Government of India, O.P. Mishra, Adviser, Statistics and Director of AH, AP, L. Mohan are also participating in the meet.
