Execute Hogenakkal project with State funds, says Ramadoss

Staff Reporter

KRISHNAGIRI: The Pattali Makkal Katchi founder, S. Ramadoss, has urged the State government to execute the Hogenakkal drinking water supply project with its own funds and make it operational before January 2010.

The government should not delay the project any further by waiting for funds from Japan, he told reporters here on Sunday. The State was funding various projects, including the Ramanathapuram drinking water project, and the same could be done for this scheme too.

On the opposition from Kannada outfits and the BJP government in Karnataka for the execution of the project, Dr. Ramadoss said people in the State should come together to protect the rights of Tamil Nadu.

The successive governments did not fight for the State’s rights on the Cauvery or Mullaperiyar or Palar issues. The same should not happen to the Hogenakkal project, he said.
