Election results in 5 States today

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: All arrangements have been put in place for the counting of votes in the elections to Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Mizoram Assemblies on Monday that is being dubbed as a “semi-final” in the run-up to the 2009 Lok Sabha polls.

The counting of votes will begin at 8 a.m.

While the ruling BJP will face an acid test to retain power in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, the Congress is seeking to retain power and shrug off 10 years of anti-incumbency in Delhi under Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. In Mizoram, the Mizo National Front is once again seeking to retain power.
