Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The organs of brain-dead 52-year-old-Asha at Apollo Hospitals were removed after her family gave the go ahead for organ donation on Saturday evening . Asha had a ‘space-occupying lesion,’ which led to brain death, according to hospital sources.

A pair of corneas, two kidneys, the heart and the liver were removed.

While the corneas were given to Sankara Nethralaya, the heart went to Dr. Cherian’s Frontier Lifeline Hospital, with the traffic police once again facilitating speedy transportation of the organs.

The kidneys and liver were used for patients at the Apollo Hospital.
