A final decision on the quantum of assistance will be taken after the Central team submits its report NEW DELHI: The Centre has announced advance assistance of Rs.200 crore to Tamil Nadu for undertaking immediate relief work following the cyclonic storm, heavy rain and floods in parts of the State. A final decision on the quantum of Central assistance will be taken after the Central team, presently on a visit to the State to assess the damage, submits its report. Chairman of the high-level committee and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar announced the decision here on Monday. “Considering the damage caused by cyclonic storm, heavy rain and floods in parts of Tamil Nadu, and in view of the request of the Government of Tamil Nadu for immediate release of relief funds, Union Minister for Agriculture and Chairman of the high level committee Sharad Pawar has announced an amount of Rs.200 crore as advance to the Government of Tamil Nadu for undertaking immediate relief works,” stated an official press note.
