Voicing THEIR DEMAND: Members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedikae staging a road roko on Tamil Nadu Karnataka border, near Hosur, protesting against the Hogennakal drinking water project in Tamil Nadu, on Monday.
KRISHNAGIRI: Traffic on Hosur-Bangalore National Highways remained paralysed for nearly an hour when members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) blocked the road at Athipalli, near Hosur, in Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border demanding a joint survey of the site of the water source for the Hoganekkal drinking water project by Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Claiming that the river Cauvery belongs to Kannadigas, the members raising slogans against political parties in Tamil Nadu said that the site where the drinking water would be sourced was well within the Karnataka limits. They said that they were not against Tamils and not against any drinking water project but insisted that joint survey should be carried out before its implementation.
Hundreds of inter-state vehicles lined up on both sides of the road till the agitators lifted their blockade after an hour.
