Road blockade to demand joint survey of water source
Special Correspondent
KRISHNAGIRI: Traffic on the Hosur-Bangalore National Highway remained paralysed for an hour when members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike blocked it at Athipalli near Hosur, demanding that Tamil Nadu and Karnataka take up a joint survey of the site of the water source for the Hoganekkal drinking water project.
Claiming that the Cauvery belongs to the Kannadigas, the agitators said the site, where the water would be sourced, was well within Karnataka. They said they were not against the Tamils and any drinking water project, but were for a joint survey before the scheme was implemented.
Hundreds of vehicles lined up on both sides of the road till the agitators lifted the blockade.
