‘Varichiyur’ Selvam arrested

SIVAGANGA: The police on Monday arrested “Varichiyur” Selvam (40) of Madurai in a land cheating case.

Sources said Anthonisamy of Anaiyur in Madurai in his complaint stated that he had sold his nine acres of land at Karukkalakudi in Sivaganga district to Selvam’s wife Chithra Abirami for Rs.30 lakh in January this year. Though Selvam paid Rs.1.65 lakh towards the settlement, he had not still paid the remaining amount. Moreover, he illegally encroached another five acres , which is near the land sold. The Sivaganga town police are investigating the case.
