Family refuses to accept man’s body

Staff Reporter

VIRUDHUNAGAR: Family members of G. Velraj (29), who was found dead in a well near Rajapalayam on Sunday, refused to take possession of the body pressing for a charter of demands, including Rs.2 lakh compensation, on Monday.

The body has been shifted to Virudhunagar after a post-mortem following the refusal to accept it by the family members.

The police said that Velraj was arrested in connection with a statue damage case at Sankaralingapuram in March this year. Subsequently, he was released on bail.

His wife has complained that Velraj, who went out with a person belonging to another caste, did not return since December 4.

The relatives have demanded a Government job for his widow and immediate arrest of nine persons in this connection.
