Eight killed in two accidents

VIJAYAWADA: Eight persons were killed in two road accidents in Krishna district on Tuesday.

In the major accident at Keesara tollgate, four persons of a family, including children and their car driver, died on the spot, while two others sustained injuries. All the victims were from Kukatpally in Hyderabad and the car, in which they were on their way to Vijayawada, was hit by a Jaggayyapet-bound APSRTC bus.

The victims were identified as Chalamakuri Satyanarayana Murthy, 70, Durga Surya Prasad, 48, Sai, 5, and Amurtha Varshini, 1, and the car driver Raju. Two women Deepa, 24, and Bharathi, 38, who were injured were rushed to a hospital in Vijayawada .

In another accident, two women and an auto-rickshaw driver were killed when a lorry hit the three-wheeler in which they were travelling in Nuzvid rural area on Tuesday.
