Collector to provide laptop computer

Raghava gets offers from three US varsities

GUNTUR: In response to the news report published in these coloumns about Konduru Srinivasa Raghava, a Tenali-based mathematics genius, District Collector B. Venkatesham promised him a laptop computer to further his research work.

In a personal interview with the student, who has just completed his B.Sc. (IT) from Annamalai University, he has promised him to get financial help from philanthropists to ensure he travelled to United States where, in three universities -- Universities of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Texas -- he got an offer to continue his research in Number Theory.

Supported by professor I. Ramabhadra Sarma of KLC Engineering College, he has been inducted into its Vaddeswaram college as research scholar. But after he missed the bus for 2008 admissions in the U.S. he proposes to make sure he travelled to one of those universities to continue his research, while teaching students there.

As part of additional qualifying measure, he has applied for the TOEFL also to take the test in February 2009. “You concentrate on your studies and I will ensure that you travel to the U.S., while your family back in India is comfortable with their finances,” Mr. Venkatesham said.

Srinivas Raghava’s father had expired in 2005 while working as an aided Sanskrit teacher and none of his dues have been settled so far. The Collector has also promsied to get some job for one of his family members so that there was some minimal support.

Raghava’s younger sister studies architecture and mother works as Sanskrit teacher in a private institution and finds is difficult to bear the expenses of research work of Raghava.
