Main accused is a police driver Accused robbed youth of 3kg gold PALAKKAD: The three main accused in the gold dacoity cases registered recently at Olavakkode and Ottapalam, Joe Arogyaraj, Ramesh and Babu, who surrendered in the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court III here on Tuesday, were remanded in police custody for 10 days by the court on Wednesday. On Tuesday, they were remanded in judicial custody till December 22. But the police moved the court seeking custody of the accused to investigate the case and recover the gold on Wednesday. Joe Arogyaraj, a police driver at Walayar station, had been placed under suspension after the incident. With the three in police custody, nine out of the seven accused in the Olavakkode dacoity case are in custody. Last month, four persons in police uniform took a youth who was carrying three kg of gold on the Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram Express from the Olavakkode railway station to Yakkara at midnight telling him that a sub-inspector wanted to see him. On reaching Yakkara, they robbed him of the gold and a mobile phone.
