KAVALI (NELLORE dist): Non-Conventional Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NEDCAP) Vice-Chairman and Managing Director M. Papi Reddy has stressed the need for use of renewable energy as the natural resources are depleting fast. Speaking after inaugurating the Centre for Energy and Environment (CEE) at Visvodaya Institute of Technology and Science (VITS) here on Wednesday, he said the global warming, change in climatic conditions, poor monsoon and waste of available energy were causing depletion of natural resources and in future, energy would become a major problem in India. He appreciated the VITS management for setting up the CEE and assured the centre assistance in all aspects. Alternative sourcesDirector of Nayudamma Centre for Development Alternatives A Jagadeesh said the country was facing 11,000 mega watts of energy shortage per year and there was a need to use renewable energy. The alternative energy sources like wind, biomass, solar and hydel power would bridge the gap between the demand and supply, he said and appealed to the youth to enlighten public on new and renewable energy sources. The CEE would help the students carry out various projects on energy and environment, he said. VITS principal M. Sri Murali presided.
