V.G. Talawar Mysore: V.G. Talawar, newly-appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore, said on Wednesday that he would prepare a “Vision Document” for the development of the university in the next 15 or 20 years with short and medium-term targets attainable by five years. He told The Hindu that his priority would be to strengthen the academic and research activity in the university, followed by staff development. He would focus on the comprehensive development of postgraduate centres of the university. Prof. Talawar, who has specialisation in information science, has over 34 years of teaching and research experience of which 17 years were in the University of Mysore and six years in Mangalore University. He was earlier the Registrar of the University of Mysore for four years and Director of the UGC Academic Staff College for four years. A large number of friends, colleagues and well-wishers gathered at Prof. Talawar’s residence soon after hearing his appointment as Vice-Chancellor.
