Five Pushkaram pilgrims killed

MAHABUBNAGAR: Tragedy struck pilgrims proceeding to Alampur in the district to have a dip in the Tungabhadra on the first day of the Pushkaram on Wednesday when the vehicle in which they were travelling collided head on with an RTC bus killing five persons on the spot.

According to information reaching the district headquarters, a 11-member group from Hyderabad started to Alampur town in a Toofan vehicle to have a dip in the Tungabhadra.

At Natavelli on National Highway-7, the vehicle after overtaking a lorry hit an RTC bus coming in the opposite direction, resulting in the death of five persons and injuries to another five persons who were shifted to Kurnool hospital. The condition of the driver, Satyanarayana, is critical.

The deceased were identified as Ch.Vajaramma (70), her son Ch. Krishnamoorthy (35), daughter-in-law Saritha (32), daughter and son-in-law of Vajaramma, Vanaja (32) and Srinivasulu (36).
