Soz assurance to YSR

NEW DELHI: Union Minister for Water Resources Saifuddin Soz on Wednesday assured Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy of the Central government’s “technical support and other assistance” in the implementation of various water projects. He gave this assurance to the Chief Minister when he called on him at his office here on Wednesday, according to an official press note.
Among the issues discussed were the Andhra Pradesh government’s stand-off with Maharashtra on the Babli barrage and the State government’s request to declare Pranahita and Polavaram as national river projects. Dr. Reddy urged the Minister to raise the State’s share of grant under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme.
