Hospitals to help in disease surveillance

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: More than 50 representatives of private hospitals participated in a meeting convened by the Corporation of Kochi on Wednesday in an attempt to improve surveillance of diseases.

The City Mayor, the District Collector, Corporation Secretary, Corporation Health Officer and the entire health team — the District Medical Officer and team and the district manager of National Rural Health Mission — participated in the meeting that was called in the wake of the Health Minister’s review meeting on dengue fever. According to District Medical Officer K. T. Ramani, private hospitals have agreed to provide reports to help maintain surveillance on any outbreak of diseases.

Corporation Health Officer C. G. Elizabeth and her team had another meeting with the District Health authorities to draw up the action plan for the city.
