Global workshop on education begins

HYDERABAD: Seventy-six delegates from 11 countries began an eight-day discussion as part of an international workshop here on Wednesday, to review the approaches to education and to build the human resources/infrastructure to overcome large dropout rate due to various factors, including migration.

Development practitioners from France, Switzerland, Dominican Republic, Vietnam, Cambodia, Nepal and Sri Lanka, among others, are attending the workshop at the National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NIMSME), Yousufguda. The workshop is being organised by Chennai-based international development organisation ‘Aide et Action’.

Principal speakers

Ravi Pratap Singh, regional director, South Asia Aide et Action and Rajesh Tandon, president, Society for Participatory Research in Asia, were the principal speakers at the workshop, the third in the series.

It will have sessions on six themes: quality education and community participation, inclusive education: approaches and strategies, promotion of sustainable livelihoods, people combating HIV/AIDS through education: approaches and strategies, education and migrating populations, investment and budget analysis in education.
