Cop injured, accused nabbed

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A Delhi Traffic Police head constable was allegedly roughed up and dragged some distance by two young men on a scooter when he tried to stop them in Dwarka here on Thursday.

The incident took place around 4 p.m. when Head Constable Satyavir was on duty under a flyover in Dwarka as part of a special drive to check traffic violations. On spotting two men on a scooter being driven in a rash manner, he waved them to stop. They took up an altercation with Satyavir and allegedly manhandled him. The driver then accelerated, but the head constable caught hold of them and was dragged some distance in the process. His uniform was torn and he was injured. The two accused were overpowered and taken to the Palam police station.

The duo, Jatin Gupta (21) and Sourav (18), residents of Palam village, have been arrested under relevant provisions of the IPC.
