dated December 13, 1958: Charge against Russia

The United Nations General Assembly on December 12 considered a 37-nation draft resolution, led by the United States and the United Kingdom, to condemn “continued defiance” by the Soviet and Hungarian authorities of the Assembly’s many recommendations on the Hungary question.

The draft, formally introduced by Mr. Henry Cabot Lodge, of the United States, also nominated Sir Leslie Munro of New Zealand, to report to member-States or the General Assembly on “significant developments relating to the implementation of the resolutions on Hungary.”
