The Thailand-based company, which sells its diesel engines and power tillers through four distributors at present, is planning to expand its presence in India by setting up a representative office and a technical service centre.

Launching a new product Kubota diesel engine ‘RT120 plus’ for the Indian market on Friday, Chatchai Sanguancheewin, General Manager, Siam Kubota, said the overall demand for agricultural machinery in India was 1.4 million units annually and the company was confident of increasing its sales by introducing new products.

He said Kolkata was the major market in India for the company’s power tillers.

At present, the company’s market share was 7-8 per cent and the plan was to increase it to 15-17 per cent in 2009, Mr. Sanguancheewin said.
