This Day That Age
Three hundred ex-revolutionaries from different parts of the country met in New Delhi on December 13 in a two-day conference to draw up a plan for compiling an authoritative version of the history of the Indian freedom movement and set up a suitable memorial for the pioneers of the movement. The conference, which provided an occasion for the reunion of the veterans of the revolutionary movement for the first time since independence, will finalise proposals for collecting data on the various phases of the freedom movement since 1857, both within the country and abroad. Prominent among those taking part in the conference are: Dr. Bhupendranath Dutt, a brother of the late Swami Vivekananda, Raja Mahendra Pratap, Mr. Sundar Lal, and Mr. Hanuman Sahai. Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister Pandit Pant said the freedom movement consisted of two phases —the pre-Gandhian and the post Gandhian.
