Not a season for sequels out of the box

Good show: ‘Sriram weds Janaki Raghuram’

While one more channel joins the list of Telugu channels, all the other existing channels have made their intentions clear to add more colour and variety to the offerings on the remote control. A couple of months after three channels, Sitara, Vanitha and Local TV, widened the entertainment scope and came up with some good concepts to catch the attention of viewers, RTV became a reality this week.

RTV is from the Rayudu Vision Media Lab and all attention will be focussed on observing how fast it sets up its distribution network and then the packaging in terms of content.

This being so, the existing channels too have been scoring brownie points with their programming.

Gemini as usual continue to top the list of favoured channels while Zee Telugu despite ‘Aata-2’ not living up to the kind of expectations it generated has some good and compact showing with serials such as ‘Sriram weds Janaki Raghuram’.

It clearly is not a season for sequels as proved by the second edition of ‘Re la re la’ not really reaching to popularity levels of the first instalment. There is also a certain element of interest about the programming on ETV what with its new content.

On the news and current affairs front, viewers are promised more viewing options with quite a few channels being lined up including Zee 24 Gantalu, one from Maa TV, HMTV, INEWS, Saakshi News and so on.
