dated December 16, 1958: Self-help techniques

The South-East Asia Workshop Conference on “Co-operative and self-help techniques in the university community”, organised by the World University Service, was inaugurated in Madras on December 15 by Mr. Bishnuram Medhi, Governor of Madras. First of its kind to be held in Asia, the workshop is expected to initiate a new chapter of increasingly effective endeavours for student and university welfare in the region. Included in the UNESCO’S scheme of “Associated Youth Enterprises”, the three-week workshop conference is being held here at the invitation of the Indian National Committee of the W.U.S. The conference is attended by representatives from a number of universities in India and other South-East Asian countries.
