COLOMBO: Sri Lanka on Monday claimed that troops operating north of Olumadu and east of A-9 had entered the Ampakamam village in Mullathivu district after hours of heavy fighting with the LTTE. “Ampakamam is said to be a main administrative hub of the LTTE, located approximately 7 km north of Olumadu, in the Mullathivu district. The 20 Singha Regiment and the 16 Gajaba Regiment troops have crushed the remaining LTTE resistance and entered the village,” said the Defence Ministry. Meanwhile, the Air Force claimed they had launched raids on LTTE strongholds in the Kilinochchi and Mullathivu districts.
