Police began swiftly reacting to complaints about sexual harassment of women even as debate over killing of three youths in an ‘encounter’ by the police in Warangal acid attack case continued. A fresh case was reported in Madhapur police station on Monday and police arrested David, 19, of Madhapur, who had allegedly been stalking a woman working as teacher in a private school in Ayyappa Society locality of Madhapur. The teacher complained to the Madhapur police about David following her all the time. Of late, she stated, he began calling up and threatening her to accept his amorous advances. “Recently, when the teacher went to Warangal on a trip with students, the accused had called up one of the boys and asked the latter to give the phone to the teacher,” Madhapur Inspector N. Bhujanga Rao said. As David continued to pester with threat to kill her if she failed to accept his love, the teacher approached the police. A case under Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of a woman) was registered. Second caseIn another incident, the Pet Basheerabad police arrested an engineer P. Naresh for allegedly harassing a woman sales executive of a car showroom.
