* * Clue 2 Down in The Hindu Crossword 9405 (December 16, 2008) was "Journalist turns back at a point to rest around an arid land (7)" Wordplay leads to "Dessert", which is the published solution. But the definition "arid land" is for Desert. "Dessert" is a dish served as the last course of a meal.
