RINL launches energy policy

VISAKHAPATNAM: Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd. (RINL), the corporate entity of Vsakhapatnam Steel Plant, has adopted a new energy policy where it is committed to optimally utilise the various forms of energy to minimise impact on climate change.

And to accomplish this, RINL will comply with Energy Conservation Act, 2001 and make energy conservation a way of life at RINL by promoting awareness among all. It will take steps to harness renewable energy sources like wind, solar and bio fuels in line with national objective policies, upgrade to deploy appropriate energy efficient technologies including waste energy recovery and adopt best energy conservation practices to reduce Green House Gas emissions, and identify alternate sources to achieve energy security of the plant.

The policy was launched by Chairman and Managing Director PK Bishnoi at the ‘National Energy Conservation Day’ observed at VSP on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, he complimented VSP Collective for successfully implementing the novel scheme ‘Township Unplugged’, in which the residents switched off their electrical appliances from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday which resulted in saving power. Mr. Bishnoi urged the employees to voluntarily to observe self control and regulation to conserve energy . Prizes were given to winners of competitions held in this connection. Directors, senior officials, union leaders, employees, house-wives of Ukkunagaram and school children participated.
