THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A legislation will be framed to bring appointments in private sector under the ambit of employment exchanges, Labour Minister P.K. Gurudasan has said. Mr.Gurudasan said in reply to questions in the Assembly on Wednesday that amendment to the Central law was imperative for making significant changes in the nature of employment opportunities provided through the exchanges. The legislation would also ensure more jobs to those registered at the exchanges. As many as 41,68,276 candidates had registered at the exchanges. The LDF government had provided employment through the exchanges to 30,521 candidates. Unemployment dole was being given to 3,37,032 people. Computerisation of 32 exchanges had been completed and work on two others was progressing. Fisheries Minister S.Sarma said that only 20 per cent capacity of the fish processing plants was being utilised. Following recession in the economy, there was 50 per cent decline in fish exports to Japan, 17 per cent to China and 10 per cent to European Union nations. Power Minister A.K.
