This Day That Age
A World Bank spokesman said in Washington on December 16 that talks on the Indus basin Canal waters dispute were continuing on a daily basis with representatives of Pakistan and India. “The present stage consists of detailed examination by the Bank of the alternative proposals put before it by the delegations of the two countries,” the spokesman stated. The discussions at World Bank headquarters began two weeks ago when the three-man Indian delegation led by Mr. N.D. Gulhati, conferred with Mr. Liliff, a Vice-President of the Bank. Pakistan’s delegation of four headed by Mr. G. Mueenuddin, arrived in Washington a few days later and the delegations of the two countries held a joint meeting with Mr. Liliff on December 9.
