Nagaraja Kumar
VIJAYAWADA: Welcoming the Birmingham court’s verdict convicting Nalluri Nagaraja Kumar for killing Vempala Samrajya Jyothirmayi in an apartment complex on the afternoon of May 6 this year, the girl’s father Naga Saibaba on Wednesday thanked the Birmingham detectives and the court for punishing the culprit. Jyothiramyi, 23, left for Birmingham in September last to pursue MPH (Master of Public Health) course at the University of Wolverhampton and was found murdered in her apartment around 4 p.m. on May 6. Though the detectives of Birmingham initially suspected that the murder was a consequence of racism, they later found the involvement of the girl’s friend Nagaraja Kumar in the offence. Mr. Naga Saibaba, went to Birmingham last week , returned to the city on Tuesday evening.
The trial was held between December 8 and 11 and the verdict was out on December 12.
