K.S. Raju shifted to Gandhi Hospital

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Nagarjuna Finance Limited promoter, K.S. Raju, who was lodged in Chanchalguda jail on Tuesday after being arrested in a criminal case pertaining to payments to depositors, was shifted to the Gandhi hospital on Wednesday.

Chanchalguda Jail Superintendent Chandrasekhar said Mr. Raju had insisted on being admitted in a hospital stating that he was suffering with hypertension and coronary artery disease. “We told him to present his medical reports to substantiate his claim. The jail doctor examined the reports and sent him to the Gandhi Hospital around 8.45 p.m.,” he explained.

Gandhi Hospital Superintendent Balaraju said night duty doctors examined the prisoner in judicial remand.

ECG and other tests were being conducted on Mr. Raju when reports last came in. Mr. Raju and the NFL director, P.K. Madhav, were arrested by the Hyderabad police under Section 5 of the Andhra Pradesh Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishments Act on Monday.
