Ashok Todi complains of chest pain, taken to hospital

KOLKATA: Policemen on Thursday escorted industrialist Ashok Todi, now in judicial custody in connection with the death of his son-in-law Rizwanur Rahman, to a State hospital here after he complained of chest pain.

“Mr. Todi was taken to the out-patients department in the cardiology department and given some medicines after being examined.

“He was not admitted and he soon left [the hospital],” Ashok Ghosh, superintendent, SSKM hospital, told The Hindu.

Mr. Todi was remanded to judicial custody by a city court on December 1. His application for bail was rejected by the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday.

He, along with his brother and five others, was chargesheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation for abetment to suicide, criminal intimidation and conspiracy.

To appear before sessions court

A CBI-designated court on Wednesday directed that the accused be produced before the chief judge of the city sessions court on December 23.

The CBI concluded that Rizwanur, whose body was found by the side of the rail track near here on September 21, 2007, had committed suicide. He was found dead a few weeks after he had married Mr. Todi’s daughter.
