Service providers told to pay tax

Kakinada: The Department of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax has informed all service providers whose turnover is more than Rs 9 lakh in a financial year, to obtain registration and pay tax immediately. They can pay tax along with interest before the department books cases against them and imposes heavy penalties. The last date for doing so is December 31. Otherwise, stringent action will be taken as per law, Assistant Commissioner of Central Excise and Service Tax H.K. Salar stated in a press release. Staff Reporter
