Number of booths increased to 1,600


Some 66 mobile and 25 transit teams to be deployed

Transco told to ensure uninterrupted power supply


VIZIANAGARAM: District Medical and Health Officer Ch. Mahesh said on Friday arrangements were in place for the National Immunisation Day (NID) programme on Dec 21, 22 and 23. Some 2.64 lakh children in the age group of 0-5 years of age would be covered during the three-day activity.

On the last two days medical teams would visit house-to-house to vaccinate children left out on the first day. There are 5,21,183 houses for the house-to-house activity and self-help groups and anganwadi workers are also being involved.

At a press conference on Friday, Dr. Mahesh said keeping in view the distance between each booth; the number of booths this time was increased from 1,500 to 1,600. As many as 1,600 teams, 66 mobile teams, 25 transit teams, 160 supervisors and eight core group officers were being deployed to immunise the targeted children in the district.

As the programme was for the benefit of society, the DM & HO felt that involvement of every individual for its success was needed.

He asked the Transco to supply uninterrupted power on the three days to PHCs where the 3.60-lakh doses were being stored. He also sought cooperation of officials of other departments for the success of the programme. The DM & HO said the achievement at the last three rounds was cent percent and the surveillance team that visited the villages confirmed this.

Dr. Mahesh said efforts were being made to cover 5,987 children living in hilltop villages and also 2188 children on the coast.
