Nine stone crushers to be closed

The Krishna district administration has ordered closure of nine stone crushers located along NH- 9 between the city and Jaggayyapeta.

District Collector N. Sridhar on Friday reviewed the air pollution being caused by the units. Officials of the APPCB, in a drive ordered by the Collector, inspected 49 units and informed the Collector that nine units would have to be closed while the remaining 40 units require modifications for cutting down dust pollution.

The APPCB officials earmarked four units in Moolapadu, two in Jupudi, one in Donabanda and two in Kachavaram for closure.

He ordered the APPCB officials to make periodical inspections.
